New & Used Rod Photographic Description


 
 

#1 - New 1060 K Series 3/8" round rod front 16 1/2" long, 12" dog house with 10" of 60 degree carbide. Flat back end.
#2 - Used 1060 K Series The 3/8" round rod is worn to a ribbon while the front of the dog house section is eroding around the carbide.  Flat back end.
#3 - New Extender Round 7/16" host bar with full length flat channel 1/32" deep.  Both 1 1/2" long wear pads are blunt and 120 degrees.  The turning carbide is 3" of 120 degree with blunt ends.  Flat back end.
#4 - Used Extender Even though all 3 pieces of carbide are still there the rest of the host bar is worn significantly. Flat back end.
#5 - New Extender 7/16" round host bar with flat milled surfaces to accept carbide.  Both wear pads are 1 3/4" long by 1/4" wide by 1/16" thick with square corners.  The turning carbide is 3" of 120 degree with blunt ends.  Tapered end.
#6 - Used Tracker 7/16" round host bar with full length 60 degree grooved channel that has almost completely worn away.  The front 1 1/2" wear pad is half gone.  The first 1/2" of the 4" of 60 degree turning carbide has broken away.  Tapered back end.
#7 - Used Trail Blazer 7/16" round host bar with full length 60 degree grooved channel.  Most of the channel is filled with hardweld.  The turning carbide is 4" of 60 degree and is blunt.  Flat back end.
#8 - New Extender 7/16" round host bar with full length flat channel 1/16" deep.  Both 1 1/4" long wear pads are blunt, 3/16" wide, and 1/16" thick.  Full hardweld between carbides. The turning carbide is 4" of 90 degree and blunt.  Tapered back end.
#9 - Used Extender The front carbide is long gone and the hardweld is significantly worn exposing more of the carbide's blunt end.  Tapered back end.
#10 - New Extender 7/16" flat top host bar with full length flat channel 1/16" deep.  Both 1 1/4" long wear pads are rounded on top with blunt ends, 3/16 wide and 3/32" thick.  Full hardweld between carbides. The turning carbide is 4" of 90 degree and blunt.  Tapered back end.
#11 - Used Extender Excessive wear in front of the front wear pads and significant wear between the front wear pad and turning carbide.  Tapered back end.
#12 - New Trail Blazer 7/16" round host bar. Hardweld front and back, 6" of 60 degree carbide.  Flat back end.
#13 - New Trail Blazer 7/16" flat top host bar with full length flat channel 1/16" deep.  Both 1 1/2" wear pads are rounded on top with blunt ends, 3/16" wide and 3/32" thick.  Full hardweld between carbides.  The turning carbides is 6" of 60 degree and is tapered.  Tapered back end.
#14 - Used Executive 1/2" round host bar 3/16" 90 degree full length channel.  Both 1 1/2" by 1/4" wear pads are flat with blunt ends.  Full hardweld between carbides.  The turning carbide is 6" long by 3/16" square.  The wear pattern indicates mostly pavement riding because the majority of the wear is directly on the carbide. There is some wear on the host bar in front of the front wear pad. Flat back end.
#15 - New Executive 1/2" flat top host bar with full length flat channel 1/16" deep.  Both 1 1/2" wear pads are 120 degree with a small taper on the front.  Full hardweld between carbides.  The turning carbide is 8" of 60 degree.  Tapered backend.
#16 - Used Executive 1/2" round host bar. Significant wear on front wear pad, a 1/4" is gone.  Most of the hardweld between the wear pad and turning carbide is gone.  A 1/4" of the turning carbide is gone also.  A good share of the hardweld between the turning carbide and the rear pad is gone.  Flat back end.
#17 - Used Executive 7/16" flat top host bar. Most of the turning carbide is chipped out.
#18 - Used Competition 150 miles ridden in December 1996 in northern Minnesota.  Excessive host bar erosion.  Lost front 2" and 4th inch.
