A 3/8" hex host bar with a 3/16" square key stock keel (24" long) welded to it. This lifted the ski further off the ground. Our original design was to hardsurface the keel, but we dropped that when the sled manufacturers shifted weight to the front. This required a man and a boy to turn the handlebars. That is why we developed the lower profile rod with hardsurfacing only. By the way, you could do donuts all day long without any trouble with those rods.
