New Hampshire Legislature Passes Snowmobile Bill
(Bow, NH) The New Hampshire Snowmobile Association (NHSA) is praising the New Hampshire Legislature's passage of House Bill 1348 relating to registration requirements for snowmobiles. NHSA President Dana Cabana declared that this would enhance the sport of snowmobiling in the state.
Effective July 1, 2002 you will be required, when you register your snowmobile, to show proof of membership in a New Hampshire non-profit snowmobile club or pay a $30.00 user fee, per machine registered.
This long and hard fought change occurred with the passage of HB 1348 (amended), which requires one of the above options. For over 30 years the NHSA and its member clubs have worked hard toward this goal.
Well it has finally happened! The NHSA, with the support of it's member clubs convinced the New Hampshire state legislature to pass a bill requiring a person to either belong to a .NH not for profit snowmobile club or pay a $30.00 user fee, per machine, to register a snowmobile in the State of New Hampshire. This fee will go into a club assistance program administered by the Bureau of Trails, Grant-In-Aid program that has worked effectively since the 1970's.
"This bill will assist the hard working volunteers who maintain the state's trail system every year so that snowmobiling can be enjoyed by all. We feel it is only right that all snowmobilers pitch in to assist in these efforts," Cabana said.
The New Hampshire Snowmobile Association would like to thank the NH snowmobile clubs for their continued support of this effort. It has been a long battle. We would also like to thank the NH state legislators who supported our efforts and stood their ground and passed this bill.
The New Hampshire Snowmobile Association (NHSA) is a non-profit organization
comprised of 120 snowmobile clubs statewide. Its purpose is to foster and
promote safe, family orientated snowmobiling and to represent the snowmobile
clubs o f NH. The NHSA has been an advocate of safe snowmobiling since 1969.
