New! SPX SKI

New Stepped Bottom Design!
USI has been busy all spring and summer designing a lot of new innovative products for the upcoming snow season. One of which is the new SPX. The all new SPX ski evolved from the race and trail proven PX-301 ski that USI has been marketing for the past 4 seasons. (Racers) Now with a completely new bottom design, the new SPX ski comes with 8 steps, 4 on each side to decrease drag and increase speed without sacrificing corner control. The keel has also been deepened by 3/16 inch to further improve corner bite without increasing steering effort. Initial testing of the SPX ski last winter showed a 2-4 mph increase in speed over snow compared to the standard PX bottom… This is the most advanced ski design available today BAR NONE!

(I believe the spring / summer time frame is correct because all of the embellishments had not been thought of yet. They had more time to re-write the hype for the catalog. Also, if they had really tested the SPX design, I would have hoped, they would not have come out with a ski that required up to 12 modifications to the sled and skis to make the SPX able to turn at speeds under 35 mph.)

My experience has been that darting has always been an issue with USI skis. (I have older used USI skis and rods with heavy wear on the front to back it up.) The Project X skis darted and turned harder than the previous USI skis. (I got that info from customers.) By adding more depth to the SPX ski keel it became even harder to turn the handlebars. DAH!!!
